As most of my friends can attest to I am obsessed with obscure knowladge (dont blame me, thank my husband). I like to have little known factoids to spout off at odd times and flat out weird news articles to refer to. I guess you could say it is a hobby of mine. Allow me to share some of my sources. Magizine: Mental Floss, Reuters, and CNN. The first is a magizine I have just recently stumbled upon, the latter 2 are the only websites I can access from work that coprate conserviate idiots will not get thier drawers in a knot over. So, in my down time this is how I pass my days.
as for the word 'o the day,
soporific
(adj.)
inducing sleep
In a sentence:
Professor Knowles’ lecture on The Life and Times of Jane Austen was described by his smarter students as soporific; his dumber disciples simply referred to it as “like, totally boring; I’m gonna take a nap.”
In a different sentence:
When Tyler wanted to get a nice, legal high, he would steal his mother’s various soporific agents, and pop them until he became unconscious.
A riddle for adults and mature children only:
What’s something that has soporific qualities, but also makes you stay awake at night?
Answer: Sex.
Fact:
Officials in a suburb of Sydney, Australia, began broadcasting Barry Manilow tunes at the Cook Park Reserve in hopes the vocalist’s soporific sounds would keep gangs of unruly youths from continuing to gather there.
Much thanks Mental Floss for the word of the day!
