Yes We Can

I have made a difference in my world.

I voted. I voted for the best candidate. Not based on religion or color. For the Man I want to see lead this country back to her rightful place amongst the world.

My entire adult life GWBush has been in office. It has been a confusing time for me.

America has not been the nation I was taught to respect and love. It has been a place where lies and deceit have ruled the country. I was the first in my family to back Obama - far before the primary. I pray that President Obama will have the opportunity to see OUR dreams come to life. I see in this man hope, peace, and love. Love of our nation and a love of humankind.

As of November 4 I have a spring in my step and hope for the future. I waited in line to vote - for the first time ever. Not because this was my first time to vote - I vote every chance I get. But because this was the first time many others have voted.

This election is proof that faith in America is not lost. Hope has not failed - it is alive and well.

This is our time, to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth, that, out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope. And where we are met with cynicism and doubts and those who tell us that we can't, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people: Yes, we can.

-President elect Obama.

I have a dream that one day this nation will rise up and live out the true meaning of its creed: 'We hold these truths to be self-evident: that all men are created equal.

-Dr. King
