Derby Refs are .....fantastic and I want to write about them because they deserve a MAJOR shout out. Refs are incredible. That is one tough job and we would not have a game without them. Being on the inside last night gave me a new perspective of our game. There is so much going on all at once, so fast, that any penalties can get called is blowing my mind. How do you do it? I spent all night looking at stripes and hearing whistles. I saw NONE of the game from inside, just looking to refs and white boards for the calls. Also, that the refs keep going while the girls get a break is unbelieveable. Energizer bunnies at heart. Ref Neck with his hand signals, Day Glo repeating everything to me some times twice. Ellwood, getting it all on the white boards and making sure it got to the inside. Adamn Adamn Adamn so shiny. Skateasaurus keeps 'em coming. Skip, where do I start? Hailey does have some hawk eyes. I feel like never ever want to be on the inside of the track again and I want to do it again tomorrow, all at the same time. This is my shout out to all the refs at Skateland last night and really ALL the derby refs everywhere. Every skater should spend at least one bout in the middle of the track, don't get injured to be there, but be there once. Derby refs, you are amazing and we are indebted.
