How things went.
The weekend was pretty full.
Saturday I went down to Lynnhaven Dive Center and hung out till it was time to head to the Ghent Winter Bar Crawl (make a wish fundraiser) where I was a volunteer. The DDG Volunteers (NigelToughnails, Stalker Cindy, Diana Driveby, Larry-AKA OldSkoolBeatdown, and myself) were placed at the New Belmont. We skated from Zio's to the New Blemont, I thought I was going to die. Once we got there I learned that it was a 2 story bar.... we were expected to be both upstairs and down.
Moving on to Sunday and the bout!
Personally I am pretty happy with how I did. I did not fall once! WHoo Hooo and I think I made fair calls. And I only went careening out of control once (thanks for stopping me Al!)! River city played better than expected as far as jammer's go, but I did feel that their penalties were very sloppy.
I think that the ref's were working better together! I had my large QT mug to drink from. And Al got some good shots.
It was great to see Jeri Bralwell out and on her feet. She took care of penalty time keeping. Poor thing fell last week at Monday nights practice, the thought it was a sprained ankle, but it was in fact a broken fibia just above the ankle and several torn ligimants. What a trooper to make it to the game! We had a skater down bake sale to help cover medical cost, as well as a skater down raffle.
As a ref during the game I was very impartial, but once things got over I was thrilled that my DDG gal's showed the RCR who was boss! Someone even put a sign for the DDG Zebra squad (Ref's) That made me feel pretty good!
