The last time minimum wage was raised was in 1997, congress signed it into law in 1996.
In 1996 the national average gas price was 1.21 a gallon. Now it is 2.54 a gallon. Utility prices are sky rocketing, and yet minimum wage remains the same. Apartment prices continue to climb, but once again no raise in minimum wage.
I had next to no money as a teen. I made 4.75 an hour and gas was .99 a gallon. I pity the teens of today. Even pop is more expensive. You cant even survive on minimum wage. How fucked up is that?
