Things I am thankful for

Here it is 5:23 AM. I am awake on a day off to take care of my thanksgiving ham. This year I am reveling in the fact that I am looking forward to thanksgiving dinner. That I am excited about all the day has to offer me! Historically Thanksgiving has meant a yearly visit to the hospital, family feuds, and turmoil. Once I came to the conclusion that Turkey was the cause of the hospital visits I began to fast on the day most Americans gorge themselves. I dreaded the holiday, I wanted to boycott it in its entirety. Last year changed that. Last year we were invited to Mike and Jess's, where for the first time I enjoyed myself, relaxed and could eat the food (she made dishes sans-turkey!)! Since that day I have been waiting eagerly for Thanksgiving 2006! It has made top billing on my list of holidays to be excited about! We will play board games, drink lots, and have a splendid time! At the moment Grant is in bed asleep along with Sam, and Erin is passed out on the futon. I am bracing myself for 3 hours of me time, which will include 3 hours of Gilmore Girls, and a steady re-basting of the ham. Before I adjourn to the TV I wanted to leave you with a list of all I am thankful for.

- I am thankful for my friends, both old and new who continue to surprise me and encourage me to grow

- I am thankful for having such a loving and supportive family who makes me feel included even tho I am half way across the country

- I am thankful for a husband who is so perfectly flawed and is ok with that. and who accepts me no matter what life brings

- I am thankful for a job that came at just the right time

- I am thankful for pets who love me especially when I remember to feed them

- I am thankful that most of my friends who were deployed are home and safe

- I am thankful for the election results from November 2006

- and oddly enough I am thankful for Thanksgiving.
